SRINAGAR, APRIL 28 (STC):
A day after holding discussions with the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Monday briefed Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the key military decisions aimed at countering Pakistan’s recent provocations. He also informed him about the security situation and preparedness following the deadly terrorist attack in Pahalgam.
According to the reports, in the aftermath of the Pahalgam attack, Pakistani troops initiated “unprovoked” ceasefire violations across the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir, escalating tensions further. This marks the fourth consecutive ceasefire violation by Pakistan in recent days.
“During the night of April 27-28, Pakistan Army posts initiated unprovoked small arms fire across the Line of Control in areas opposite Kupwara and Poonch districts,” the Indian Army said in a statement, adding that Indian forces responded “swiftly and effectively.”
Reports quoting sources indicate that the Centre is closely monitoring the situation and there is possibility of strong retaliatory measures. (STC)
