Police advisory: Refrain from spreading misinformation about arrest of ‘mentally unsound’ person in Waripora

BARAMULLA, FEBRUARY 06 (STC): Baramulla police issued an advisory urging the general public to refrain from spreading rumours or misinformation on social media or any other platform regarding an incident in which one individual, Abdul Razak Lone, of Waripora Kunzar, has been taken into custody.
A video about the person has gone viral on social media. The said individual had constructed a structure resembling the Holy Kaaba, which was later voluntarily demolished by locals during the night.
According ti the police, preliminary inquiry suggests that the individual appears to be mentally unsound. As per due legal procedure, necessary medical evaluation will be conducted, and he will be taken to a psychiatric hospital after obtaining requisite orders from the Executive Magistrate.
The police warns that
circulating unverified information can lead to unnecessary panic and misinterpretation of facts. “Strict legal action will be taken against anyone found indulging in rumour-mongering or attempts to incite unrest,” reads the police statement.
The police has request all citizens to maintain peace, communal harmony, and cooperate with law enforcement agencies. “Any concerns or suspicious activities should be reported to the police through official channels,” said the police. (STC)
