Prominent Kashmiri singer Waheed Jeelani meets Iranian Cultural Counsellor

Both explored opportunities to deepen artistic exchanges between Iran and Jammu & Kashmir.

New Delhi, January 20 STC): Celebrated Kashmiri artist and cultural activist, Waheed Jeelani, called upon Dr. Fareed Asr, the Cultural Counsellor of Iran to India, today in New Delhi. Diplomatic interpreter Mehdi was also present during the meeting.
The discussion centered around enhancing Indo-Iran cultural cooperation, with a particular emphasis on the shared heritage of Sufi music and the preservation of cultural traditions. Both parties explored opportunities to deepen artistic exchanges between Iran and Jammu & Kashmir.
Dr. Asr praised Waheed Jeelani’s decades-long dedication to preserving and promoting the artistic and cultural heritage of Kashmir on a global platform. He expressed strong interest in fostering collaborative efforts aimed at celebrating the cultural synergy between the two regions.
“We look forward to creating meaningful partnerships that bridge the cultural and artistic legacies of Iran and Jammu & Kashmir,” both representatives agreed, expressing optimism for the development of collaborative projects in the near future.
This meeting marks an important step in strengthening cultural ties and promoting peace and harmony through art and music on an international scale, reads a handout released to media after the meeting.
