SRINAGAR, OCTOBER 15 (STC): There is a direct contest between the National Conference (NC) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for the Jammu and Kashmir Rajya Sabha elections after the Returning Officer rejected the nomination papers of two independent candidates.
The nomination papers of the independent candidates, Prabhakar Dada and Kante Sayanna, were found invalid after scrutiny in accordance with the provisions of the Representation of the People Act.
With their disqualification, a total of seven candidates, four from the National Conference (NC) and three from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), remain in the fray for the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections.
Notably, officials have said that the final list of contesting candidates will be announced after the last date for withdrawal of nominations.
