SRINAGAR, JUNE 24 (STC): Restoration of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir has already been promised by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah. And as per their promises, it will be restored at appropriate time.
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) General Secretary (Organisation), Ashok Koul on Monday stated this on the sidelines of the function organised on the anniversary of Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee. Responding to volleys of questions by reporters, Koul said the Business Rules can be accepted by the Lieutenant Governor only after the document is framed properly.“The Business Rules that our government sends to the LG should be sent properly, and he will approve them,” he said.
He further said that there was no question of conducting polls again. “The elections have been held for five years and will take place only after the present government’s term is completed,” he said.
On Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s rejection of providing water to Punjab for a project, Koul said, “Nobody other than Pakistan wants our water. Why should we provide water to them? Punjab doesn’t need our water. Jammu people have been facing a severe water crisis. We need to ensure the drinking water supply to them first.”
He added that the suspension of the Indus Water Treaty by the central government has been appreciated by the people.
