: Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir (SKUAST-K) today unveiled a new online admission portal for undergraduate and postgraduate programs. The new portal – www.admissions.skuastkashmir.ac.in – was officially launched by Vice Chancellor Prof Nazir Ahmad Ganai at a function held at the university’s Shalimar campus.
The platform has been designed to offer a smooth and simplified application experience, accessible across devices including mobile phones.
The Vice Chancellor congratulated the university’s ARIS team led by Dr GM Mir for developing the portal in record time. “The new system will serve as a single-window platform for admissions, offering features such as easy document uploads, integrated payment options, and comprehensive course details,” he said.
Prof Ganaie noted that the initiative would significantly reduce the challenges students usually face during the application process.
The portal has been developed entirely in-house by SKUAST-K’s software development team, under the leadership of Muneer Shigan, with key inputs from Zubair Paul and Adnan Samoon. It features a multi-dashboard system, including separate dashboards for examinations, admissions, and student profiles—allowing different departments to manage their operations independently while maintaining a centralized data system.
The system supports online fee payments through internet banking, credit, and debit cards, making the process seamless and fully digital.
Several senior officials were present during the launch, including Director Education Prof Mohammad Altaf Bhat, Director Planning Prof Shabir A Wani, Registrar Prof Azmat Alam Khan, Controller of Examinations Prof Qaiser Naveed, and Deputy Registrar Academics Siraj-ud-Din.
Meanwhile, the SKUAST-K has opened applications for 14 undergraduate and 67 postgraduate programs, including several newly introduced, market-oriented technology courses aimed at enhancing student employability. (STC)
