: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah expressed deep sorrow over the mass departure of tourists from Kashmir in the aftermath of the deadly terrorist attack in Pahalgam. He called the situation “heartbreaking” while acknowledging the understandable fear gripping visitors.
“The administration is taking all possible steps to ensure the safe and organised departure of tourists from the Valley. We totally understand why people would want to leave. Their safety is our top priority,” the chief minister said.
Meanwhile, according to the reports, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and the Ministry of Civil Aviation are coordinating to arrange additional flights to facilitate the smooth exit of stranded visitors. Efforts are also underway to clear road traffic and provide safe passage along the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway (NH-44). The highway has now been partially reopened for one-way traffic.
“I have directed the administration to prioritise tourist vehicles and ensure controlled, phased movement along the highway,” the CM said.
The Chief Minister has appealed the general public for support and patience. (STC)
