TRAFFIC ADVISORY: Passengers/(LMV) operators advised to prefer day time journey on Jammu-Srinagar NHW

SRINAGAR, DECEMBER 27 (STC): Jammu and Kashmir Traffic Police authorities have advised passengers/light motor vehicle (LMV) operators to prefer journey on Jammu-Srinagar NHW during day time. They have advised to avoid journey during night hours as the movement of heavy motor vehicles (HMVs) between Nashri tunnel and NAVYUG Tunnel may cause inconvenience to the commuters.
Commuters are advised to follow lane discipline; overtaking, wrong lane driving will cause congestion, reads the advisory.
In its traffic plan for December 28 (tomorrow), following advisory has been issued bybthe traffic authorities:
NH-44 (NHW)
Subject to fair weather and better road conditions, LMVs Passenger/HPSVs/Private Cars/HMVs (Good carrier) shall be allowed from both sides on Jammu-Srinagar NHW (NH-44) viz from Jammu towards Srinagar and vice-versa. TCU Jammu/Srinagar shall coordinate with TCU Ramban regarding the road condition.
SFs Convoy Movement:-
Subject to fair weather and good road condition, Security Forces vehicles shall be allowed from both sides on Jammu-Srinagar NHW (NH-44) viz Jammu towards Srinagar and vice-versa. They shall move after after confirming the status of NHW from TCU Ramban.
Kishtwar- Sinthan- Anantnag NH-244:-
Subject to fair weather and good road condition, after getting green signal from NHIDCL, only LMVs shall be allowed from both sides viz from Anantnag towards Kishtwar and vice- versa on Kishtwar-Sinthan-Anantnag road. These vehicles shall be allowed from PP Parana and PP Daksum between 1000 hrs. to 1400 hrs.
SSG ROAD
Subject to fair weather and good road condition, (after getting green signal from the BRO) traffic movement shall be allowed on regulated manner on Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumari road. LMVs followed by HMVs (upto 06 tyres) with Anti-skid chains shall be allowed from Minamarg towards Srinagar between 0800 hrs. to 1130 hrs. Similarly, LMVs followed by HMVs (upto 06 tyres) with Anti-skid chains shall be allowed from Sonamarg towards Kargil between 1300 hrs to 1600 hrs. No vehicle shall be allowed after cut off timing. Motorists are advised to carry anti-skid chain to gain more grip on the slippery road. TCU Srinagar and PCR Kargil will inform all concerned about the cut off timing.
SFs Convoy, plying from Srinagar to Kargil and vice versa shall plan their movement in such a manner so that Civil Traffic (both UP and DOWN) don’t get disturbed.
Mughal Road:-
Subject to fair weather and good road condition, after getting green signal from Road maintenance agencies (GREF). LMVs Passenger/Private Cars with Anti-skid chains shall be allowed from both sides viz Jammu towards Srinagar and vice versa via Poonch. These vehicles shall be allowed from Chandimarh (Baffliaz) towards Shopian and Herpora (Shopian) towards Poonch between 1030 hrs. to 1430 hrs. No vehicle shall be allowed after cut off timing. TCU Jammu and TCU Srinagar will inform all concerned about the cut off timing.
However, people have been advised to undertake journey only after confirming status of the road from Traffic control units as under:
