Video claiming two Anantnag youth as militants is fake & misleading: J&K Police

: The video circulated by some national media channels showing two locals from Anantnag as militants is fake and misleading, said the Jammu and Kashmir Police while strongly refuted the claims.
According to the police, the two individuals seen in the video, which has gone viral on some social media platforms and run by certain national television channels, are students and were on their way to purchase a smartphone when the video was recorded. The misrepresentation of their identity caused unnecessary panic and distress, prompting the police to issue a clarification.
The youths have since approached the police and filed a formal complaint regarding the circulation of the fake video and the false allegations attached to it, police said and added appropriate action will be taken as per law against those responsible for spreading misinformation.
The police have urged people to desist from sharing unverified and misleading content that can harm innocent individuals and disturb public order.
“Spreading fake videos and false narratives is a serious offence,” police said.
