War on drug traffickers in 2025 saw 1,000 NDPS cases registered, 1,400 arrested in Kashmir: Police

: Jammu and Kashmir Police’s war on drug traffickers during the year 2025 yielded positive results with around 1,000 cases registered under the NDPS Act and nearly 1,400 people arrested.
Details shared by the police reveal that properties worth more than Rs 70 crore have been attached in NDPS cases. More than 120 such properties were identified during the operations, out of which around 40 have already been permanently seized.
A police statement further states that police is working with a strong and effective case follow-up system to ensure quick trials in drug cases. “The focus remains on quality investigation. More than 90% of investigations were completed with proper evidence and charge-sheeting, ensuring that accused are presented before courts for judicial determination,” it said.
Even the police secured convictions in several cases with sentences of up to 20 years imprisonment, along with fines running into lakhs of rupees.
The police is continuing the crackdown operation against the drug traffickers.
