Winter session of Parliament ends, key bills passed

SRINAGAR, DECEMBER 19 (STC)
: The Lok Sabha was adjourned sine die on Friday, bringing an end to the 19-day Winter Session of Parliament that witnessed the passage of several significant legislations, including a Bill to repeal the two-decade-old MNREGA and another aimed at allowing private participation in the civil nuclear sector.
As the House assembled for the day, Speaker Om Birla delivered a brief valedictory address, highlighting that the productivity of the Lok Sabha during the session stood at 111 per cent. He noted that members extended sittings late into the night to engage in detailed discussions on important Bills.
Following the address, the Speaker adjourned the House sine die, formally concluding the Winter Session, which had begun on December 1.
