JKPC launching campaign against reservation policy; NC supported BJP to win RS seat, says Sajad Lone

SRINAGAR, OCTOBER 25 (STC): Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Conference (JKPCC) Chairman and MLA Sajad Gani Lone today announced launching of a campaign against the ongoing reservation policy in the Union Territory. Besides, in a blunt reaction to the Jammu and Kashmir Rajya Sabha elections, he accused the National Conference (NC) of supporting the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in winning the fourth seat.
Sajad Lone was addressing a press conference here today. He said, “The current reservation structure was undermining merit in recruitment and education. Open merit has been set aside. We are launching a public registration drive against this system. If protests or hunger strikes are needed, we are prepared for that,” he said.
Commenting on the results of the Rajya Sabha elections, he said, “The extra votes that went to the BJP came from the NC. Seven of their members supported the BJP. This was not cross-voting from others; they did it themselves.”
He further said, “They accuse others of siding with the BJP, but their own actions reveal a different story.”
Sajad Lone also said that the Congress party was denied a fair opportunity in the elections. “The Congress should have been given a winnable seat, but NC offered them one that had no chance. A national party deserved better treatment,” he said.
