JKAHUC urges authorities to allow Hajj pilgrims to carry luggage along to Srinagar by air

SRINAGAR, MAY 30 (STC): The Jammu & Kashmir Association of Hajj & Umrah Companies (JKAHUC) has expressed its concern regarding the reported decision to transport the luggage of the Hajj 2026 pilgrims from Ahmedabad to Srinagar by road, expected to be delivered to pilgrims several days after their return to home.
“We respectfully appeals to the Hajj Committee of India and, in particular, the Chief Executive Officer of the Hajj Committee of the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir, to review this arrangement in the interest of the pilgrims,” reads the statement of the JKAHUC.
The statement further reads: “It is a long-standing tradition that upon returning from the holy pilgrimage, Hujjaj-e-Kiram are welcomed by their families, relatives, friends, and well-wishers. During these gatherings, pilgrims customarily distribute Zamzam water, dates, and other items brought from the holy cities of Makkah and Madinah. Any delay in the delivery of luggage would cause considerable inconvenience and disappointment to both the pilgrims and their visitors.”
The Association believes that pilgrims, many of whom are elderly, should be provided with their complete luggage upon arrival so that they may return home comfortably and fulfill their social and religious obligations without unnecessary hardship.
JKAHUC urges the concerned authorities to make suitable arrangements to ensure that pilgrims receive their luggage simultaneously with their arrival, thereby avoiding inconvenience and preserving the dignity and comfort of the Hajj journey.
The Association hopes that the Hajj Committee of India and the UT Hajj authorities will give this matter their immediate attention and take appropriate corrective measures at the earliest.
