SRINAGAR, OCTOBER 29 (STC): The issue of Kashmiri prisoners lodged in jails outside Jammu and Kashmir was raised by CPI (M) legislator M.Y. Tarigami today in the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly. He urged the government to take up with the Centre the issue of shifting Kashmiri political prisoners lodged in various jails across the country to prisons within the Union Territory.
Raising the matter during the Zero Hour in the Assembly, Tarigami said there are thousands of Kashmiris imprisoned in different parts of the country, causing immense hardship to their families.
“On humanitarian grounds, they should be shifted to Kashmir jails. Yesterday, I spoke to Shabir Shah’s family — they cried. I request the J&K government to raise this issue with the Centre so that Kashmiri prisoners are brought back here and their families can meet them,” Tarigami said. (Straight Talk Communications)
