Bollywood loses Basanti’s Veru at 89

SRINAGAR, NOVEMBER 24 (STC): Bollywood legend Dharmendra breathed his last today morning at the age of 89. He was battling a prolonged illness.
Known for his outstanding performance in Ramesh Sippy’s ‘ SHOLAY’ as Veru, the veteran actor’s health took a serious turn on November 10, 2025, when he was rushed to the Breach Candy Hospital and admitted to the intensive care unit. At that time, he was put on a ventilator after experiencing breathing difficulties.
Despite best efforts of the doctors, his condition worsened and Deol family announced his death in the morning.
Over his extraordinary career spanning decades, Dharmendra appeared in more than 300 films, becoming one of India’s most beloved film icons. His strong screen presence, kindness off-screen, and sheer versatility made him a symbol of Bollywood’s golden era.
He has left a lasting legacy in Indian cinema and will be remembered for generations for his performances on the screen.
