SMVD Medical College’s permission to run MBBS course cancelled; students to be adjusted in other UT colleges

NEW DELHI, JANUARY 07 (STC): In an interesting turn of situation, the National Medical Commission’s Medical Assessment and Rating Board (MARB) has withdrawn the Letter of Permission (LoP) granted to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Institute of Medical Excellence, Kakryal, Jammu & Kashmir, for running the MBBS course with 50 seats for the ademic year 2025-26.
The decision has been announced by the MAR Board, vide its notification N-22011/25/2025-Assesment/ MARB (8337986), after its team found lack of infrastructure and the minimum standard during a surprise inspection of the SMVDIME.
To safeguard the interests of the students already admitted for the Academic Year 2025–26, the State/UT Authorities have been authorised to accommodate such students in other medical institutions within the Union Territory, as supernumerary seats, in accordance with applicable norms, an NMC Official said.
