SRINAGAR, FEBRUARY 13 (STC)
: There is no proposal with the government to waive Kisan Credit Card (KCC) loans for farmers affected by recent floods or blockades.
Jammu and Kashmir government on Friday informed this to the Legislative Assembly today. “KCC is a central government-backed financial scheme that provides soft loans at lower interest rates to benefit farmers across the country. The scheme is designed to support agricultural and horticultural activities, and the government does not have a mandate to grant loan waivers under its provisions, said government. The government further stated that farmers, however, continue to access credit under the scheme for various crop and horticulture-related purposes.
The government said it remains committed to supporting the agriculture sector through existing financial instruments and other schemes aimed at mitigating losses caused by natural events or infrastructural disruptions.
