: Admitting that the local markets are loaded with sub-standard and adulterated products, the Shah-re-Khass Traders and Chambers (SKT&C) has shot a stern warning to the merchants involved in this trade. In a statement issued today, the SKT&C under the banner of “Ek Awaaz, Ek Paigaam,” has made it clear that the health of citizens and the safety of children is non-negotiable. It has called for a complete boycott of any individual or entity found selling or distributing sub-standard goods. “Profit gained at the cost of public health is Haram and socially unacceptable. We issue a final warning to those responsible for bringing inferior-quality products into the market. It is the collective responsibility of the trading community to ensure that every item on the shelf meets safety standards. Those who play with the lives of our children for petty margins will face social and professional isolation, reads the statement of the SKT&C.
It has also sought the active cooperation of the administration. “We urge the concerned departments to conduct rigorous market inspections, seize spurious goods, and penalize offenders to the fullest extent of the law. We appeal to the residents of Jammu and Kashmir especially Shah-re-Khass to be vigilant consumers. If we do not protect our health today, our future generations will not be safe, the statement reads.
It further states: “Our trade exists to serve the people, not to harm them. We stand united, if a product is not good enough for our own children, it has no place in our markets.”
The organisation has expressed its commitment to restore the integrity of the historical trade center and ensure a healthy, safe environment for all.
