LG Sinha, CM Omar congratulate J&K team for winning Ranji Trophy title; CM announces Rs. 2 Crore cash reward

SRINAGAR, FEBRUARY 28 (STC): Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah have congratulated the Jammu and Kashmir cricket team on their historic triumph in the Ranji Trophy.
The LG lauded the players for their grit and determination. In a post on his X handle, LG Sinha said, “J&K’s finest hour has arrived. Emotions beyond words as our cricket team claims the Ranji Trophy. To every player who carved history through sheer grit—thank you from the entire UT. You have immortalised history; embrace it with honour.”
Meanwhile, the Chief Minister has announced a cash reward of ₹2 crore for the players and support staff following their emphatic victory over Karnataka on their home turf.
“Congratulating Team J&K on their historic triumph in the Ranji Trophy, the Chief Minister announced a cash reward of Rs. 2 crore for the players and support staff after their emphatic victory over Karnataka on their home turf,” reads the X post of the CM’s office.
“Calling it a watershed moment for Jammu & Kashmir cricket, he said the landmark win has filled the entire region with pride and inspiration. The players will also be entitled to government appointments under the recently notified rules for outstanding sportspersons”, reads the X post.
