Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei killed in Israel-US air strikes

MARCH 01 (STC): Iran’s state-run IRNA news agency said the US-Israel joint strikes killed Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Iran, meanwhile, has vowed revenge.
Earlier, US President Donald Trump had claimed killing of the supreme leader, which was denied by the Iranian officials.
Iran’s Revolutionary Guards announced strikes at 27 US bases as well as Israeli facilities after Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian condemned Khamenei’s killing in the US-Israel strikes as “a great crime”.
Khamene was killed as the United States and Israel carried out a large-scale military operation against Iran on Saturday.
Trump described the campaign as “already a success,” adding, “We’ve inflicted tremendous damage. It would take them years to rebuild.”
In response, Iran fired missiles and drones toward Israel and targeted US military installations in Bahrain, Kuwait, and Qatar. The US military reported no American casualties. Israel said many missiles were intercepted.
The fighting disrupted commercial air travel across the Middle East, with multiple countries closing airspace.
