Terrorist killed in Uri encounter, infiltration bid foiled: officials

: A terrorist was killed when the security forces foiled an infiltration bid along the Line of Control (LoC) in Uri sector of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, officials said on Sunday.
Giving details of the operation, the reports quoting official sources said that based on a specific intelligence input provided by the Jammu and Kashmir Police regarding an infiltration attempt, a joint operation was launched on the intervening night of March 14 and 15 in the general area of Buchhar, Uri.
The reports said that alert troops spotted the suspicious movement of a terrorist hiding in the thicket. The ambush was readjusted, and the terrorist was challenged by the security forces, following which he opened indiscriminate fire.
“In the ensuing encounter, a terrorist of Pakistani origin was eliminated. Warlike stores, including an AK series rifle, pistols, and a large quantity of ammunition, were recovered from the site of the encounter, reports quoting officials said.
Meanwhile, the Chinar Corps of the Indian Army in a post on X said that “Operation Diggi 2” continues in the area, confirming the infiltration bid had been successfully thwarted.
