LG Manoj Sinha orders magisterial inquiry into Arhama encounter in Ganderbal

SRINAGAR, APRIL 03 (STC): Following the killing of an individual in an encounter that took place in Arhama area of Ganderbal district on April 1, the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has ordered a magisterial inquiry into the incident. The family of the slain individual has claimed that he was nit a terrorist as claimed in the media reports.
The slain individual has been identified as Raashid Ahmad Mughal, son of Late Gull Zaman Mughal, a resident of Chuntwaliwar Lar in Ganderbal.
The Home Department has directed that a “thorough and impartial” probe be conducted to ascertain the facts and circumstances surrounding the encounter and the death of the individual.
According to an official communication, the inquiry has been entrusted to the District Magistrate, Ganderbal. He has been asked to complete the inquiry within seven days and submit the report to the government.
