SRINAGAR, MAY 02 (STC)
: The Group of Concerned Citizens ( GCC) J&K has welcomed the long-awaited commencement of Jammu -Srinagar Train Service. The Group had urged inclusion of Anantnag as a halting station of Jammu– Srinagar Vandhe Bharat Express.
In a statement here today , the GCC said that ” by excluding Anantnag station, passengers from the three districts of Anantnag , Kulgam and Shopian and the adjoining areas of district Pulwama are having to undertake the avoidable extra travel to Srinagar and then drive back to their destinations in these districts”.
The Group has accordingly appealed to the Railway authorities and the UT Government to have Anantnag station included as a halting station of Jammu– Srinagar–Jammu Vandhe Bharat Express to facilitate a large chunk of the passenger population, Pahalgam-bound tourists and Shri Amarnath Yatris.
