JAMMU, MAY 20 (STC)
:
Handing over appointment letters to over 3,200 newly recruited constables of the Jammu and Kashmir Police, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha asked them to dedicate themselves to defending the unity and integrity of the country.
Addressing the new recruits, LG Sinha said every uniform of the J&K Police tells a story of courage and commitment woven into the nation’s history, and urged the new recruits to take pride in the ideals of defence and service that the force embodies.
He said the nature of law and order threats and terrorism prevailing here demands constant and unyielding vigilance.
“We must remain constantly alert and vigilant against threats that hide in plain sight,” Sinha said.
He observed that new recruits must work as a team because the threats J&K confronts demand cooperation between different agencies.
“When we share information, plan strategies, and confront the enemy together, we build capacities that no single institution can create alone,” the Lt Governor said.
LG Sinha said India has always embraced peaceful coexistence, but faces a neighbour widely known as a source of terrorism in the world.
“Alongside maintaining law and order, newly recruited constables must stand on the front line of national security with determination to eliminate threats of terror,” he added.
He further stated that terror does not sustain itself; it needs money, networks, and support systems. “Using the full force of the law, we must trace and neutralise sources of funding.
We must identify every network and dismantle every support system completely,” he said.
The LG also cautioned that along with modern tools, the police force should adopt the tradecraft of basic policing, adding that beat policing proves highly effective in matters of law and order.
Meanwhile, the LG also commended the J&K Police for its swift action against drug smugglers during the ongoing ‘Nasha Mukt Jammu Kashmir Campaign’.
“J&K Police has laid out a comprehensive plan to completely choke drug entry routes. I am confident that actions in the coming days will be stringent and will yield major successes,” he said.
