Security forces arrest PoK man along with girlfriend in Uri

SRINAGAR, MAY 31 (STC): A Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) resident along with a local woman near the Line of Control (LoC) in Uri sector of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district was arrested today.
Official reports said that a PoK national, identified as Zeeshan Ahmad Mir, son of Lal Din Mir and a resident of Muzaffarabad, was apprehended by the Army’s 12 Grenadiers unit at Silikote in Uri.
He was detained along with Iram Bano, daughter of Abdul Majeed Mir and a resident of Tilawari village in Uri.
Preliminary investigations suggest the duo were in a love relationship. The PoK resident is believed to have crossed the LoC to meet the woman in Uri, reports quoting sources revealed. The report further states that all aspects of the case are being thoroughly examined and no conclusions have been drawn so far.
Both individuals are currently in Army custody and are being questioned to ascertain how the PoK resident managed to reach the area and the exact circumstances that led to the suspected cross-LoC movement.
Meanwhile, in separate incident, Army in post on X said “Exfiltration Bid Foiled by Chinar Warriors Based on specific intelligence input, a joint search operation was launched by #IndianArmy and JmuKmrPolice in general area of Uri, Baramulla. Two individuals from Sopore apprehended by vigilant Chinar Warriors while attempting exfiltration in Uri Sector with inimical intent alongwith their accomplice guide. Further probe underway.”
Officials said investigations are underway in both cases to determine the motives and possible security implications.
