Safina Baig joins National Conference

SRINAGAR, JULY 08 (STC): Advocate Safina Baig officially joined the National Conference here to day. She was warmly welcomed by Jammu and Kashmir National Conference President Dr. Farooq Abdullah and Vice President and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah.
During a grand ceremony at the National Conference party Headquarters Nawa-e-Subh Complex, Safina Baig, former DDC Chairperson Baramulla and wife of former Deputy Chief Minister Muzaffar Hussain Baig, officially joined the National Conference. On this occasion, senior party leaders warmly welcomed her.
Addressing the ceremony, Dr. Farooq Abdullah welcomed Safina Baig to the National Conference and said that steadfastness, courage and endurance are the basic qualities in politics, while it is also very important to take every step thoughtfully.
He said that the National Conference is not just a political party but a people’s movement, which the people of Jammu and Kashmir have nurtured through their unparalleled sacrifices and struggle. He expressed hope that Safina Baig will play a full role in serving the people and solving their problems.
Dr. Farooq Abdullah said that in the current circumstances, unity and consensus are the most important need of the hour because Jammu and Kashmir is currently going through a difficult period and the current people’s government is busy serving the people despite severe challenges.
On this occasion, Safina Baig said that she has taken this decision after much thought and deliberation. She said that she is joining the National Conference not for any position but as a member, because she believes that the National Conference is the best platform for solving the problems of the people of Jammu and Kashmir and for their true representation.
She said that the National Conference is a historic and popular movement, which even today enjoys the full support and backing of the people and there is no alternative to this party.
She thanked Dr. Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah and said that she was grateful to them for giving her the opportunity to serve the people from the platform of the National Conference and expressed confidence in her. The ceremony was attended by Party General Secretary Haji Ali Muhammad Sagar, Assistant General Secretary Chaudhry Muhammad Ramjan, Cabinet Minister Javed Dar, Provincial President Advocate Shaukat Mir, Women Wing President Shamima Firdous, Zone President and MLA Uri Dr. Sajjad Shafi, MLA Hazrat Bal Salman Ali Sagar, MLA Gulmarg Farooq Ahmed Shah, MLA Baramulla Javed Hussain Baig, Khawaja Muhammad Yaqub Wani, Provincial President Women Wing Engineer Sabia Qadri, Shafqat Watali, District President Baramulla Shahid Ali, District President Srinagar Pir Afaq Ahmed, Minority Cell Convener Jagdish Singh Azad and other office bearers, while Safina Baig was accompanied by hundreds of her supporters.
