Northern Railway announces special train service started between Srinagar and Katra for passengers

SRINAGAR, JULY 23 (STC): Owing to closure of the Jammu-Srinagar highway due to landslides, Northern Railway announced to run a special train from Srinagar to Katra for the convenience of passengers.
Reports quoting the sources said, this special train has been run on the request of the Commercial Control of Jammu to provide alternative travel facilities to the passengers stranded due to traffic congestion and slow speed on the national highway.
According to the announcement, the special train will depart from Srinagar at 5 pm and reach Mata Vaishno Devi Katra via Banihal. On the return, this train will depart from Katra at 8:45 am on July 24 and reach Srinagar around 12 noon.
According to railway officials, this special train will be run between Banihal and Katra in both directions without any stops and a rack consisting of eight coaches will be used for this.
It is worth mentioning that the Jammu-Srinagar highway remained closed for the second consecutive day due to landslides, rockfalls and erosion at several places due to heavy rains, leaving hundreds of vehicles and passengers stranded at various places.
