Independence Day: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha hoists national flag at Lok Bhawan Srinagar

Pays tribute to the sacrifices made for achieving the freedom.

SRINAGAR, AUGUST 15 (STC): Women and youth empowerment, job creation and environmental sustainability should be given priority, said Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha in his speech after hoisting the national flag at here on the occasion of 80th Independence Day.
Paying tribute to the innumerable freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives for the country, the Lieutenant Governor recalled the difficult journey, struggle and sacrifices made for achieving freedom. He also paid tribute to the citizens who lost their lives in unfortunate natural disasters this year.
“On this historic day, I join all the citizens in paying heartfelt tribute to our founding fathers and the brave sons and daughters of Mother India who sacrificed their lives for the freedom of the country. Let us strive hard to fulfill their dreams of making Jammu and Kashmir a peaceful, prosperous and great region and country. The true tribute to our martyrs and freedom fighters is that we resolve to work with integrity and protect our freedom won with great sacrifices,” the Lieutenant Governor said.
Mentioning the challenges ahead, the Lieutenant Governor expressed firm confidence in India’s ability to emerge as a global leader. He stressed that citizens should unite and work towards an inclusive society where public interest is given priority and there is compassion for the deprived and vulnerable sections of the society.
He said, “Let us strive for balanced development and economic empowerment of women to create a more humane and compassionate society. We must prioritize empowering women and youth, creating employment opportunities and ensuring environmental sustainability. Our ongoing initiatives, which include reactivating heritage sites, restoring ancient monuments and large-scale plantation drives, are a testament to our strong commitment to sustainable development.”
He also stressed the importance of every citizen’s active role in realizing the vision of a self-reliant Jammu and Kashmir and a developed India by the year 2047, envisioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Manoj Sinha urged all citizens of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir to dedicate themselves to nation building. He also highlighted the need to ensure transparency and accountability in the governance system.
The Lieutenant Governor congratulated all the brave personnel of Jammu and Kashmir Police and Central Armed Police Forces who were awarded gallantry medals on the occasion of Independence Day. He also appreciated the sportspersons who have shown exceptional performance in the field of sports and appreciated their significant contribution to the glory of Jammu and Kashmir.
LG Sinha urged the people to renew their resolve to serve the nation and play their role in building the country and nation with more zeal, sincerity and dedication.
