PDP Chief celebrates 30 years of her political career; hosts dinner for journalists

SRINAGAR, AUGUST 27 (STC): Former Chief Minister and People’s Democratic Party (PDP) chief, Mehbooba Mufti, in an informal interaction with journalists and communication professionals, hailed the role of media professionals in informing the public and facilitating discourse on issues of public importance.
“You have played a significant role in driving my political journey, be it giving it an upward push or letting in down, during all these years, she said while addressing the gathering.
Notably, she hosted a dinner for members of the media fraternity on Wednesday evening to celebrate her three decades of political career. She told the audience that she participated in elections first time in September 1996.
During the gathering, Mehbooba Mufti underscored the need for a free, responsible and vibrant media in a democratic setup, while acknowledging the challenges faced by media professionals.
The interaction provided an informal platform for strengthening engagement between political leadership, journalists and communication professionals.
