SRINAGAR, OCTOBER 23 (STC): Inviting the locals of the Kashmir Valley and tourists from different parts of the country to enjoy the beauty of the Gul Dawood Garden in Srinagar, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah urged people to visit the beautiful garden, take pictures and return with beautiful memories.
The Chief Minister inaugurated the Gul Dawood Garden for the second consecutive year today. After performing the inauguration, he said that people should come here and enjoy the beauty of flowers, take pictures and make these beautiful moments a part of their memories. “The Floriculture Department had developed this garden last year, with the aim of providing a unique and attractive floral attraction to tourists during the autumn season and also to promote tourism in Kashmir at the end of the tourist season, CM Omar said and added that the Tulip Garden located in the Kashmir Valley attracts a large number of tourists at the beginning of the tourist season, however, at the end of the season, there was no such major attraction for tourists that could encourage them to come to Kashmir. The Gul-e-Dawood Garden has been developed with the aim of filling this deficiency.
The Chief Minister said that the government is trying to ensure that different and unique entertainment places and flower exhibition opportunities are available to tourists in Kashmir from the beginning to the end of the tourist season. He said that such measures will not only provide a new experience to tourists but will also help in promoting tourism in the valley.
Expressing satisfaction over the development of the garden, he said that there has been significant improvement in the garden compared to last year. “Those who attended the inauguration ceremony last year and have now visited the garden again can feel a clear difference in its development and beauty. I assure that the process of renovation and development of the garden will continue in the coming years and continuous steps will be taken to make it more beautiful and attractive,” CM Omar said.
Mentioning the features of the garden, the Chief Minister said that unlike the Tulip Garden, where flower bulbs are imported from foreign countries, locally available plants and botanical materials are used in the Gul-e-Dawood Garden. He said that the Floriculture Department itself carries out the work of breeding and increasing the number of these plants, which facilitates the development of the garden.
He further said that the government will try to add some new feature to this garden every year, so that it remains a center of interest for locals and tourists in the coming years.
