Truecaller launches Truecaller Lite app for consumer convenience and safety

SRINAGAR, OCTOBER 27 (STC): Truecaller has announced the launch of a new App Truecaller Lite in India. The app provides the protection that people trust most on Android phones with limited storage and memory: knowing who is calling before the call is received, and blocking unwanted calls.
At around 10 MB in size, Truecaller Lite installs in a few moments, opens quickly and works smoothly on phones with up to 4 GB of RAM.
The app is being introduced at a time when India is entering its busiest shopping season, and during this time, fraudulent calls are on the rise, such as fake delivery calls, calls with unrealistically attractive offers and KYC fraud.
Phones used for payments, deliveries and family communication for millions of people are already running out of space, and once the festive photos, videos and forwards pile up, there’s no more room.
Many of them had asked for a lighter version of Truecaller, so Truecaller Lite has been designed to not compromise on the limited space of the phone for security. “Scammers don’t see what phone you have before calling, so security shouldn’t depend on it either,” said Rashat Jhunjhunwala, CEO of Truecaller. “I’ve seen many people whose old or basic Android phones are struggling with heavy apps. In addition, many people in India told us that they wanted to use Truecaller, but either their phone didn’t have the space for it or the app didn’t work smoothly. Truecaller Lite is designed specifically with these phones in mind: the same protection against spam and fraud, in an app that takes up less space and works faster,” he said.
