SRINAGAR, SEPTEMBER 15 (STC): Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Monday appreciated the Supreme Court’s direction of stalling certain provisions of the Waqf Law.
In his statement, he said, “It is deeply regrettable that one religion’s properties are being targeted under this bill. I welcome the Supreme Court’s understanding of the matter.”
Commenting on Doda MLA Mehraj Malik’s dention under Public Safety Act, Omar Abdullah said, “He should have accepted his mistake and resolved the issue. The police can continue their investigation, and if something wrong is found, accountability will follow but booking him under PSA at this stage is not justified.”
He stressed that the matter should have been resolved without such a step.
