Retired teacher, her husband killed in tragic road accident in Srinagar outskirts; STC condoles their demise

SRINAGAR, SEPTEMBER 19 (STC)
: In a tragic road accident at Umerabad HMT area of Srinagar outskirts on Thursday evening, a retired lady teacher and her husband lost their lives. The lady was killed instantly and her husband succumbed to his injuries early morning today.
According to the eyewitnesses, the couple, identified as Mufti Bashir Ahmed Shah and his wife Fahmeeda of Umerabad, were on way to their home when they were hit by a speeding Swift car while crossing the road. Both were initially shifted to SKIMS Bemina, where Fahmeeda was declared ‘brought dead’ on arrival.
Mufti Bashir Ahmed Shah, who was critically injured, was later in the evening referred to SKIMS Soura for specialised treatment. Despite doctors’ best efforts at SKIMS Soura, he too succumbed to his injuries around 7.30 AM today.
Notably, police have registered a case in this regard, arrested the driver. Further investigations are underway.
