JAMMU, NOVEMBER 20 (STC): During the search of the Kashmir Times newspaper’s office premises, the State Investigation Agency (SIA) said it recovered a revolver, 14 empty cases of an AK-series weapon, three live AK rounds, four fired bullets, three grenade safety levers and three suspected pistol rounds.
All recoveries were seized after completing legal formalities and the items point to possible unlawful possession and suspected linkages that require deeper investigation, the agency said.
Searches were also conducted at the Gandhi Nagar residence of Kashmir Times owner Prabodh Jamwal in connection with the same FIR. The SIA said digital devices and documents seized from both locations will undergo forensic and technical analysis to establish their origin, usage and any potential connections with proscribed groups. The investigation, officials added, is ongoing and further action will follow based on emerging evidence.
Notably, the State Investigation Agency (SIA) as already reported today carried out searches at the head office of Kashmir Times on Residency Road, Jammu, as part of an ongoing probe into a case registered against the media organisation for alleged links with secessionist and anti-national elements.
According to an official SIA statement, the raids, conducted in the presence of an Executive Magistrate were a continuation of investigations into allegations that the print and digital platforms of Kashmir Times had been involved in disseminating “terrorist and secessionist ideology,” circulating “fabricated narratives,” and attempting to radicalise youth in Jammu and Kashmir. The agency further alleged that the platform had been inciting disaffection, disturbing public order and “challenging the sovereignty and territorial integrity of India.”
