Authorities warn of avalanche in five J&K districts

SRINAGAR, DECEMBER 24 (STC): Authorities have issued an avalanche warning in five districts of Jammu and Kashmir. Notably, the recent heavy snowfall in the higher reaches of the Union territory, triggered the warning, reports quoting officials said.
The districts of Doda, Ganderbal, Kishtwar, Poonch and Ramban have been warned of low danger avalanche. The avalanche is likely to occur 2,800 metres above these districts during the next 24 hours, officials told media.
The authorities have asked people not to venture into avalanche prone areas and follow advisories issued by the authorities.
