NEW DELHI, JANUARY 03 (STC): Judicial custody of Dr Bilal Naseer Malla, one of the accused in the November 10 Red Fort car blast case, has been extended till January 16, reports a cross section of media today quoting the order of Delhi court.
According to the reports, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) produced Dr Malla before the Patiala House Court after the completion of his eight-day custodial interrogation granted on December 26. The proceedings were held under tight security arrangements. Even mediapersons were not allowed inside the courtroom.
Principal District and Sessions Judge Anju Bajaj Chandna, after hearing the submissions, ordered that the accused be sent to judicial custody till January 16.
It’s pertinent to mention that Dr Bilal Malla was arrested by the NIA in Delhi on December 9 and has been described by the agency as a key conspirator in the terror attack.
As per the investigation, Malla allegedly provided logistical assistance to Dr Umar-un-Nabi, the suicide bomber who rammed an explosive-laden i20 car outside the Red Fort on November 10, resulting in the death of 15 people.
Malla has also been accused of attempting to destroy crucial evidence linked to the terror strike.
