Wet spell prediction across J&K from Jan 19: MeT

: A prolonged wet spell across Jammu and Kashmir is expected over the coming days, with light to moderate rain and snowfall at several places and the possibility of heavy precipitation in some regions between January 23 and 24, said the Meteorological Centre Srinagar in its today.
It said weather conditions on January 17 and 18 will remain partly to generally cloudy, with light snowfall expected at isolated higher reaches. On January 19 and 20, the region is likely to witness generally cloudy skies, accompanied by light to moderate rain or snowfall at scattered to fairly widespread places.
The weather is expected to remain partly to generally cloudy on January 21, with light snow over isolated higher reaches. From the evening of January 22, another active western disturbance is likely to affect the region, bringing generally cloudy conditions along with light to moderate rain or snowfall at most places from January 22 to 25.
There is possibility of heavy rain or snowfall over a few districts of the Chenab Valley, the Pir Panjal range and parts of South Kashmir during January 23 and 24. On January 26, light rain or snowfall is expected at scattered places across Jammu and Kashmir, the Met Centre warned.
The MeT centre in its advisory has warned of possible heavy rain or snowfall in parts of the Chenab Valley, Pir Panjal range and South Kashmir. Gusty winds may occur at a few places, while landslides are likely at vulnerable locations.
Travellers have been advised to plan their journeys carefully during the wet spell on January 23 and 24 and to strictly follow traffic and administrative advisories. Farmers have also been advised to suspend farm operations during this period to avoid any weather-related risks.
