Maharashtra Dy CM Ajit Pawar among 5 killed in small aircraft crash

MUMBAI, JANUARY 28 (STC)
: Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister and NCP chief Ajit Pawar, is among five dead in a plane crash this morning. Four others killed in the crash, include pilots and Pawar’s security personnel.
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation has confirmed that all five passengers on board got killed in the crash.
According to the reports, Ajit pawar, 66, was flying from Mumbai to Baramati. Reports said that the small aircraft, which took off from Mumbai around 8 am, crashed near Baramati airport during a landing attempt 45 minutes later. Pawar was to attend four important public meetings ahead of the local body polls.
According to reports, Visuals from the spot show fire and smoke, mangled remains of the plane, and ambulances rushing the injured to nearby hospitals.
Ajit was the nephew of veteran politician and NCP founder Sharad Pawar, and the cousin of Lok Sabha MP Supriya Sule. Sharad Pawar and Sule, who were in Delhi for the Parliament’s budget session, will soon be leaving for Pune.
