: Jammu and Kashmir Tourism has been honoured with the ‘Best Adventure Tourism Destination’ award at a three-day Outbound Travel Mart (OTM) 2026, which concluded in Mumbai on Saturday.
It’s worth mentioning that the Outbound Travel Mart, held at the Jio World Convention Centre from February 5 to 7, is one of Asia’s largest travel trade exhibitions.
The UT’s pavilion, showcasing its diverse tourism portfolio, received an overwhelming response from travel trade professionals and international buyers at the event, said Syed Qamar Sajad, Director Tourism Kashmir.
“The recognition at OTM 2026 is significant. It positions Jammu and Kashmir firmly on the global adventure tourism map,” Sajad said.
He said the department highlighted the region as a premier destination for activities like trekking, skiing, mountaineering, and river rafting, alongside its traditional pilgrimage and leisure offerings.
He attributed the award to focused development of adventure infrastructure, improved connectivity, and a consistent narrative of the UT being a safe and tourist-friendly destination.
“This accolade, at the start of 2026, marks a positive momentum for the sector. Enhanced air and road connectivity, along with new hotel developments, are significantly improving the visitor experience,” the Director added.
He also said that timely snowfall this season has boosted tourist arrivals, with a steady increase in footfall being observed.
