Committed to continue working with every country for world peace: PM Modi

SRINAGAR, OCTOBER 05 (STC): Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that reforms in international institutions have become indispensable to effectively deal with the new and complex challenges faced by the world in the present era.
He was addressing a joint press conference after delegation-level talks with Swiss President Guy Parlement at Hyderabad House in New Delhi. On this occasion, the two leaders discussed bilateral relations, trade, investment, global peace and security and other important issues of mutual interest.
The Prime Minister said that both India and Switzerland agree that the current global order needs to be adapted to new challenges. According to him, through reforms in international institutions, they can be made more effective, representative and in line with current global realities.
Referring to global conflicts, Prime Minister Modi said that India has consistently supported every meaningful effort for peace. He said that whether it is the conflict in Ukraine or the situation in West Asia, India has supported the resolution of problems through peace, dialogue and diplomacy.
He stressed that attempts should be made to resolve differences and disputes through dialogue and diplomatic means and the international community should continue joint efforts for lasting peace and stability.
Prime Minister Modi, while warmly welcoming the President of Switzerland to India, said that he values ​​President Guy Parlement’s commitment to the relations between the two countries. He also mentioned India’s historic Trade and Economic Partnership Agreement with the countries of the European Free Trade Association in October last year.
“Switzerland has played a key role in this agreement and it is expected to create new opportunities for trade and investment between India and the EFTA countries. Modi Under this agreement, large-scale investment is expected in India in the coming years and it will also create new employment opportunities,” PM Modi said.
He termed it as an important step towards further strengthening economic ties between India and European countries.
The Prime Minister, instead of limiting the relations between India and Switzerland to just diplomatic and economic ties, also mentioned the historical and cultural ties between the two countries. He said that India and Switzerland believe in shared democratic values, rule of law and the principles of resolving problems through peaceful means. The two countries will continue to cooperate for global peace and stability.
He expressed the hope that the growing political, economic and people-to-people ties between the two countries will be further strengthened in the future and cooperation in trade, investment and other areas will gain new momentum.
“In the current global situation, mutual trust, dialogue and multilateral cooperation have become more important than ever, while international institutions will also have to undergo a process of effective reforms to deal with new challenges,” PM Modi said.
