SRINAGAR, APRIL 10 (STC): People’s Democratic Party (PDP) leader Iltija Mufti today thanked Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha for ordering a probe into the Ganderbal encounter case.
Identifying the victim as PDP worker, she criticised
Omar Abdullah-led National Conference (NC) government for a “shameful lack of outreach” to the victim’s family.
Iltija Mufti was speaking to reporters in Ganderbal. She said, “He was an orphan. He was a good person and also a political worker, the brother of PDP.”
Welcoming the LG’s directive for a probe with a week’s deadline, Iltija Mufti asked why the chief minister, being the local MLA, had not visited the family.
“Mehbooba Mufti is the only politician here who spoke to the family. The chief minister, Omar Abdullah, is the MLA here. Could the chief minister not have come here? Could he not have sent the MLA here to meet the family?” she said.
Iltija Mufti also demanded action over the alleged delay in handing over the body of the deceased.
