Two-day National Conference on Innovative Pedagogies for Future-Ready Higher Education concludes at IUST

Awantipora, July 31: The Two-day National Conference on Innovative Pedagogies for Future-Ready Higher Education to strengthen the implementation of Design Your Own Degree (DYoD) held on 30 d 31 July concluded at IUST on Friday.
The conference brought together an eminent panel of academicians and higher education leaders from across the country, including Chief Guest Prof. Dinesh Singh, Vice Chairman, J&K Higher Education Council, Prof. Shakil A. Romshoo, Vice-Chancellor, IUST, Prof. Nilofer Khan, Vice-Chancellor, University of Kashmir, Prof. Pragati Kumar, Vice-Chancellor, SMVDU, Prof. Jawaid Iqbal, Vice-Chancellor, BGSBU, Prof. Mohammad Mobin, Vice-Chancellor, Cluster University Srinagar, Prof. Shobha Bagai, University of Delhi, Dean Academic Affairs IUST Prof Sheikh Ajaz Bashir, Registrar IUST Prof Shamim Ahmad Shah and principals of various colleges from J&K.
Two technical sessions were held on the second day of the conference. The first technical session on “AI for Future Ready Higher Education” by Prof. Shobha Bagai, who discussed the role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in our lives. She asserted that the future does not belongs to those who merely use AI, but to those who can think with AI, question AI and create with AI.
The second technical session on “Problem-Based Learning and Project-Based Learning: A Practitioner’s Perspective for Sustainable Development Education” by Prof Javaid Hussain Mir, Professor of Practice, IUST.
“As practitioners, we must move beyond theoretical instruction and immerse learners in real-life problem-solving. Problem-Based and Project-Based Learning cultivate practical skills, interdisciplinary thinking, and a deeper commitment to sustainable development.” 
Student project presentations were also held where students from different institutions participated in the DYoD framework and showcased their presentations.
Thee valedictory ceremony featured the presentation of awards by Professor Dinesh Singh, who felicitated the winning institutions for their exemplary contributions in different categories.
In the Interdisciplinary Project Category, Government College for Women, Parade, Jammu was awarded the First Prize, while the University of Kashmir secured the Second Prize.
In the Innovative Category, Amar Singh College received the First Prize, followed by the Islamic University of Science & Technology (IUST), which was awarded the Second Prize.
