Is Safina Baig joining National Conference?

SRINAGAR, JUNE 14(STC): Local media is abuzz with speculative reports that prominent political leader Muzaffar Baig’s wife, Safina Baig, is likely to join National Conference. Safina is former Baramulla District Development Council (DDC) Chairperson.
Quoting undisclosed sources, the reports said that discussions between her and the party leadership have progressed in recent weeks.
She has held multiple meetings with senior NC leaders and is expected to formally join the party in the coming days, reports local news agency KNS.
Safina Baig is a lawyer by profession and was also chairperson of the Jammu and Kashmir Haj Committee. She has remained politically active in north Kashmir and enjoys influence in several areas of Baramulla district. She had won the Baramulla DDC election as an independent candidate and later served as the council’s chairperson. In the 2024 Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections, she contested as an independent candidate from the Wagoora-Kreeri constituency.
