CCIK asks Blinkit to stop listing and sale of of pork products

SRINAGAR, AUGUST 06 (STC): Quick-commerce platform Blinkit, has come under sharp criticism from the Chamber of Commerce and Industries Kashmir (CCIK) on Thursday for the listing and sale of pork products and termed it a “deeply insensitive” act that has hurt the religious sentiments of the people in the Muslim-majority region.
“Pork is strictly prohibited in Islam, and companies operating in the region must respect the sensitivities of the local population. This negligence is unacceptable,” said CCIK President Tariq Ghani. In a statement, the CCIK president has expressed grave concern over the availability of such products through the online delivery service, stating that it reflects a complete disregard for the religious, cultural, and social values of Kashmir.
The Chamber urged Blinkit to immediately remove all pork products from its platform in the Kashmir Valley and ensure that such items are neither stocked nor advertised in the future. The CCIK also called upon the concerned authorities to examine the matter and take appropriate steps to prevent the recurrence of such incidents .
Ghani said, “The business community stands firmly with the sentiments of the people. Commercial activities should never come at the cost of hurting public sentiments or disturbing communal harmony.”
