J&K CM Omar Abdullah foresees broader relations between US and J&K in coming years

SRINAGAR, AUGUST 19 (STC): Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister after meeting US Ambassador to India Sergio Gore said that it was a good and positive meeting, in which both got an opportunity to discuss the relations between India and US. However, as per Omar, the special focus of the discussion was on Jammu and Kashmir and the possible role of the US in this regard.
Omar Abdullah said that there are some “legacy issues” or long-standing issues, which will be resolved over time. He said that he is keen to take the ongoing discussions in this regard further. He said that in the future, this contact will not only be between the US Ambassador and Washington, but he himself will also continue to discuss this issue with the Government of India in New Delhi.
Omar Abdullah said, “We are hopeful and confident that the relations between the US and Jammu and Kashmir will become broader and deeper in the coming years.” He also stressed that discussions will continue at various levels to take the current contact forward.
