Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha urged the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU) administration, teachers and students to make joint efforts to transform the institution into a “pilgrimage centre of knowledge, a laboratory of innovation and a guiding light for the society”.
Manoj Sinha participated in the 23rd Foundation Day celebrations of the university in Katra. He congratulated the administration, faculty members, students and the entire university community on the occasion and said that during the last 23 years, SMVDU has achieved a prominent position in the promotion of knowledge, research, innovation and high values.
In his address, the LG said that the university has played a significant role in nurturing students who are not only achieving success in their professional fields but are also contributing to the development of society and the country as responsible citizens. He appreciated the achievements of the university in the areas of research, patents, start-ups and skill development and said that in the present era, educational institutions have to adapt to the rapidly changing technology and global requirements.
Sinha urged the faculty and students to set high goals in emerging areas like Artificial Intelligence (AI), cutting-edge innovation, research and global collaboration. He said that it is the need of the hour to provide a conducive environment for young minds where they can foster new ideas, conduct innovative and far-reaching research and use their knowledge and skills for the betterment of the society.
He said that Mata Vaishno Devi University should not be limited to just an educational institution but should move towards becoming a prominent centre of knowledge, research, innovation and social responsibility.
He appealed to all the stakeholders of the university, especially the teachers, students, researchers and the administration, to collectively expand the capabilities of the institution and develop it as a centre where innovation, research and values ​​are of primary importance along with education. He also stressed that the younger generation should be continuously encouraged to achieve excellence, participate in cutting-edge research and play a meaningful role in the development of the country.
