Pursue J&K’s statehood restoration through dialogue, says Altaf Bukhari

SRINAGAR, SEPTEMBER 16 (STC): Jammu and Kashmir’s statehood should be pursued through dialogue and persuasion with the Centre rather than confrontation, said Apni Party Chief Altaf Bukhari here today.
Bukhari said sustained political engagement was needed to convince the Centre on the issue. He also criticised the proposed all-party meeting ahead of the Assembly session, questioning its focus while NHM employees and medical interns continue to raise their demands.
He said his opposition to the government would continue through democratic means but stressed that an elected government should not be removed through undemocratic methods.
Altaf Bukhari also called for a wider debate on caste-based legislation and reservation policies, including how reservation benefits are distributed.
