Jammu Tawi railway station gets new temporary entry-exit system

JAMMU, SEPTEMBER 17 (STC): Amid ongoing redevelopment under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, the Jammu Division of Northern Railway has implemented a new temporary entry and exit system at Jammu Tawi Railway Station, officials said here today.
Thenofficials said under the new arrangement, implemented from September 16, the Platform No. 1 side has been earmarked for passenger entry and arrival, while the second side, commonly known as the Narwal side, has been designated for exit of passengers completing their journey.
The temporary arrangement has been put in place with priority to passenger convenience, safety and security and smooth movement within the station premises.
To facilitate passengers, officers of the Jammu Division are conducting regular inspections of the station and reviewing the arrangements. Round-the-clock CCTV surveillance is also being maintained at important locations, including entry and exit gates, platforms and the circulating area, to strengthen crowd management and passenger safety, reads the official statement of the railways.
Checking staff of the Commercial Department, Scouts and Guides volunteers, Railway Protection Force personnel and Government Railway Police have been deployed at prominent locations to guide passengers about the new entry-exit system and direct them towards the designated routes.
Adequate arrangements for autos and other modes of transport have also been made at the exit gate on the Narwal side to facilitate onward travel of passengers.
Clear directional signboards have been installed across the station premises, while continuous announcements are being made through the Public Announcement System to keep passengers informed about the changed arrangements.
The passengers have been asked to follow the new system and cooperate with the railway administration during the redevelopment work.
“Upon completion of the redevelopment, Jammu Tawi Railway Station will offer passengers modern and world-class facilities,” the officials said.
