Drivers Dignity Day: DIG Traffic Kashmir calls for respect, discipline on roads

SRINAGAR, SEPTEMBER 17 (STC): Deputy Inspector General of Police, Traffic Kashmir, Haseeb-ur-Rehman called for respect and discipline on roads as Drivers Dignity Day celebrations began from Srinagar.
Speaking on the occasion, DIG Haseeb-ur-Rehman said drivers are the backbone of the transport system and their dignity, welfare and respect must be upheld at all levels. He said drivers work tirelessly under difficult conditions to keep Kashmir moving and deserve recognition from society.
He stressed the need for following traffic rules, maintaining discipline and showing mutual respect on roads to ensure safety of all commuters. He also appealed to the general public to cooperate with drivers and traffic personnel for smooth regulation of traffic.
The DIG said the Traffic Police is committed to ensuring safety, streamlining traffic management and organising awareness programmes for drivers across the valley.
The event marks the beginning of Drivers Dignity Day aimed at acknowledging the contribution of drivers and promoting a safe driving culture in Jammu and Kashmir, officials said.
