Tantra Silence Retreat Controversy: PDP Chief Mehbooba Mufti urges CM Omar to stop spiritual experiments in Gurez

STC NEWS DESK
SRINAGAR, SEPTEMBER 19 (STC): People’s Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti flagged a poster advertising a Tantra Silence retreat in Gurez Valley and urged Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and Jammu and Kashmir Police to intervene immediately. She warned that the border region was no playground for experiments in the name of spirituality or tourism.
In a post on X, the former chief minister drew a parallel with a similar Tantra retreat facilitated by Swami Dhyan Sumit — described by her as a self-styled godman promoting a new religion under the Shree Rajneesh Foundation which was cancelled in Goa last year after its obscene promotional material sparked widespread controversy, prompting police intervention.
“I request @CM_JnK and @JmuKmrpolice to intervene immediately and take appropriate action,” Mehbooba said.
She also appealed to Kashmir’s chief cleric Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and her party office to raise awareness on the issue.
